For Grown-Ups

Privacy

Wrigley and Turner sniff out clues. They don't sniff out families. Here's everything this site collects, in plain words.

The short version

  • No ads. No tracking cookies. No selling or sharing anyone's information. Ever.
  • We only collect something when a grown-up sends it to us on purpose: a drawing for the gallery, or (soon) an email address for Next Case Alerts.
  • Kids' names on the site are first names only, and nothing goes up without a grown-up's OK.

The Doodle Art Gallery form

What we collect: the drawing (a photo or scan), the artist's first name, their age and the drawing's name if you add them, and a grown-up's email address.

Why: so Nate can look at the drawing, decide whether it goes in the gallery, and send a thank-you to the grown-up.

How it gets to us: the form is sent through FormSubmit, a service that turns it into an email to Nate. FormSubmit passes it along; it isn't posted anywhere.

How long we keep it: if a drawing isn't picked for the gallery, we delete the email and the drawing within 30 days. If it is picked, the drawing and the artist's first name (and age, if you gave it) stay in the gallery until you ask us to take them down. Either way, we delete the grown-up's email address within 30 days of saying thank you.

Next Case Alerts (coming soon)

When sign-up opens, a grown-up will be able to leave an email address to hear when a new case comes out. Sign-ups are for grown-ups only.

What we collect: just the email address. Why: to send news about new books and events, nothing else. How: the list is kept by Buttondown, an email newsletter service. How long: until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

Getting a drawing taken down

Changed your mind? No problem, and no questions asked. Email [email protected] with the artist's first name and the drawing's name (or what it looks like), and we'll take it off the site within 7 days.

Things this site remembers on your own device

The site remembers a few game things in your browser, like which golden paw prints you've found, your Missing Leash progress, and whether sounds are on or off. They stay on your device and are never sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data wipes them.

Videos and other websites

Read-alouds play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube's own privacy rules apply once a video is playing. The Amazon buttons take you to Amazon, and the Merch Shop button takes you to our shop on Printful. Both have their own privacy rules too.

Questions?

Email [email protected] and Nate will get back to you.
